Shakespeare in the Park August 2025
Our members had a fantastic time experiencing Shakespeare in the Park. The combination of powerful performances and the natural backdrop of Central Park created a truly special atmosphere. Sitting under the sky, the play felt alive in a way that touched everyone in our group. We left with smiles, conversations, and memories that will last well beyond the night.
Back to School Giveaway August 2025
The sun was shining and the Good Shepherd Plaza was buzzing with energy at the Back-to-School Giveaway! Co-hosted by RIDA, RIOC PSD, and NYPD, the event featured school supplies, tasty snacks, and lots of enthusiasm as children and families geared up for September.
Thunderbird American Indian Powwow July 2025
RIDA members had the privilege of attending the Thunderbird American Indian Powwow at Queens Farm this July. The colorful regalia, powerful drumbeats, and storytelling dances provided a memorable window into Native American heritage. Juneteenth Celebration on June 15, 2024
A celebration of Freedom Day was held on Saturday, June 15, 5-9pm on Church Plaza, 543 Main Street. There was music, performances, and light refreshments. This was held by RIDA in collaboration with RIOC.
Free BOMBAS Socks Giveaway on June 8, 2024
RIDA gave away free BOMBAS socks at Church plaza on Roosevelt Island Day on Saturday, June 8, 10am - 3pm.
Diwali Celebration 2023
This year’s Diwali celebration on Roosevelt Island brought together dance, food, yoga, shopping, and henna in one joyous event. Aalokam Dance Troupe wowed the audience with performances full of spirit and tradition. Members felt grateful for the opportunity to celebrate and valued how the event fostered connections across the community.
